There’s this weird culture in healthcare where getting an 18g is somehow a flex and using a 22g means you “couldn’t get anything bigger.”

That’s not how vascular access should work.

The goal should be the smallest appropriate catheter for the prescribed therapy, anticipated flow rate, vein, and patient—not the biggest catheter you can squeeze into a vessel.

Yes, there are absolutely situations where larger-bore access is necessary. But bigger is not automatically better.

A good IV start isn’t about proving you can place an 18.

Last night was another amazing @wineforwatercfl event at the @orlandosciencecenter! 💙

I’ve been attending this event since the very first one, and every year it reminds me why I keep coming back. It’s such a fun evening filled with great people, live music, delicious food, great wine, games, networking… and yes, even dinosaurs! 🦕🍷

This year was extra special because I got to share the experience with my business partner, @ivnurserobin, and her husband @jon_burket, and even my son joined us. It made an already meaningful event even more memorable.

Beyond the fun, it’s all for an incredible cause. @waterforpeople is helping bring sustainable access to safe, clean water and sanitation to communities around the world, and I’m so grateful that The IV Nurse could once again support the silent auction.
